CHECKING UNDER THE ENGINE HOOD
1 — Engine oil dipstick
Vehicle must be on level ground. Stop the engine and wait at least 5 minutes before checking the oil level. Level should be between upper and lower marks on dipstick. Difference between marks is approx. 1 U.S. qt/ 1 liter. See page 49.
2 — Engine oil filler cap WARNING
The oil filler cap must be secure to avoid oil spill causing fire hazard.
Use quality oil labeled "API Service CC or CD". See page 49.
3 — Coolant expansion tank
Anti-freeze must remain in the cooling system all year round. Coolant level should never drop below the filler mark on the tank when the engine is cold. Always add anti-freeze and water in ratio specified on container of the anti-freeze manufacturer. Use quality phosphate-free antifreeze containing ethylene glycol. See page 52.
4 — Brake fluid reservoir
Brake fluid level should be between the Max. and Min. marks on the reservoir.
If brake fluid must be added to the reservoir, use only new DOT 3 or DOT 4 brake fluid that meets SAE
contents
